GETTING CREATIVE WITH COMICS!
Do you have or know any children who like to draw and would be into exploring their creative jam in the realm of comics? Are they between the ages of 6-12yrs?
THE FOUNDATION OF THE CLASSES:
The main emphasis is on the role and significance of ‘finding’ ideas in a variety of fun, exploratory
processes designed to create space for the discovery and/or enhancement of ‘individual creativity.’
This space is open for:
*Enjoyable personal experimentation and independent investigation
*Specific skills to be explored and discussed as potential personal craft
*Guidance through questions versus suggestions to encourage trust and confidence in inner-knowing and personal expression
*Movement beyond the limitations of judgement, comparison & expectation
*Support and empowerment for further independent creative exploration
**CLASS OFFERINGS**
There are 2 Main Class Options to be held online via SKYPE (all classes will run with a minimum of 4 and a maximum of 10 students):
i) MAKING COMIC CHARACTERS!: Create and develop your own original comic characters.
*2 classes held on separate days (1 hr x 2 -total 2hrs) Fee: $40
Supply List: Pencil, eraser, paper or sketchbook (around 8.5″ x 11″ give or take), watercolour paint/brush (just your dollar store level), a black felt marker (ultra-fine and fine sharpies are ideal but this is flexible), and any markers or crayons that you’ve got:)

ii). FROM CHARACTER DESIGN TO COMIC! : Create and develop your own original comic characters and begin building exciting visual stories about them.
4 classes (1 hr x 4- total 4 hrs) Fee: $60

If you’re thinking you’d like to book a SINGLE CLASS, that’s an option! I’ve developed the classes as a (flexible) progression so you may choose to take additional classes if desired. Fee is $20 and the supply list is the same as above:)
About the Instructor:
My name is Corrie Hamm and I’m a multimedia artist and creative guide who (almost) obsessively researches and writes about the mysterious nature of creativity.
I’ve enjoyed teaching children’s comics classes at the Wildflower Arts Centre in Calgary for the past 9 years (minus last year, of course).
During my time at the Wildflower, I’ve had the opportunity to personally tailor my classes to align with my research and create space for individual creative exploration and expansion. I do not offer a ‘step-by-step to finished expectation’ approach; instead, I use specific exercises that are designed to awaken a student’s unique creative impulses. And it’s so much fun!!
